It is another big day at the new Rowley Park stadium on Saturday as we welcome Lincoln United from the Unibond League for a Preliminary Round tie in the FA Cup competition. The prize for the winners will be a cheque from competition sponsors E-on for £1500 and a home tie in the next round when either Wisbech Town or Mildenhall Town will be the visitors.
Of course we tuned up in fine style two weeks ago with our 7-1 victory over Holbeach in the last round but then last week we displayed some travel sickness beaten by the odd goal in seven in the league at S/L Corby after leading 3-1. Manager Marvin Johnson admits that his inexperienced side are still on a learning curve but in the cup competitions there are no second chances. Lincoln United play in the Southern Division of the Unibond League along with sides like Stamford and Spalding United both previously members of the UCL. They won one drew one and lost the third of their opening league matches this season and like us they have once reached the First Round Proper of the competition. Marvin is still waiting on the fitness of striker Pete Okechukwu before naming his side.
